Twins!

If you’re from Wisconsin, you might see this post as something of an “et tu, Brute” move.  Still. Read on. In my heart I love the Brewers best of all.

All loyalties aside, what, you might ask, is the quintessential American summer activity {it involves brats and overpriced drinks and kettle corn and cotton candy and peanuts and men wearing leggings – fun!}?

Maybe they don’t call them leggings.

Yes! Baseball!

Classic. My home team.

Growing up, we spent many summer evenings at the local minor league field (Go T-Rats!).  We would buy the cheapest tickets available and sit on blankets on the grass waaaaay in left or right field. Our spirits were high with hopes of catching a fly ball.

Fast forward a decade or so to one of our first dates, which happened to be at a Brewer game. We were caught on the kiss cam {seriously}! The love with baseball continued.

To be totally honest, I prefer watching tennis matches or football games. However, I can get through a couple of innings and feign interest in America’s game itself. Maybe. But, there is so much more to baseball games than the game itself.

Let me elaborate. Recently we went to a Twins game at Target Field. For starters, the field is shiny and new{ish} and built to be eco-friendly.  It’s right downtown Minneapolis and offers no bad seats. Promise.

There are stands and stands of local brews and Kramarczuk’s brats and polish sausages. You can get ice cream in a baseball helmet. Or, nachos in a baseball helmet. Or, giant bags of popcorn. All of the aforementioned combine to create a cacophony of deliciousness that delights your senses. It was decided by the McCanns that {you heard it here first} a candle scent needs to be created to honor this delicious blend of smells.

Granted, this date night is a little on the pricey side. Luckily, we were able to get our tickets through work so we got a group deal.  Additionally, two brats and two drinks later, we called it quits on the spending and spent the rest of the game wandering, breathing in the aforementioned fried-food-deliciousness, talking with friends, and watching double plays and home runs.

Also, baseball games provide fantastic people watching opportunities. Minnesotans seriously know how to rock their Twins blue and red.

Did the Twins win? I actually don’t know. We left a little early to let the puppy out.  But, of course not without first snapping several pics to share!  The joy for me was not in the final score, but in spending a glorious sunny evening with my husband, enjoying America’s pastime.

Play Ball! Batter Up! Strrrriiiike! Yerrr Out! Hey, batta batta batta!

En Route. Driving in game traffic was slow but there is lots to see in downtown Mini Apple

Once inside the gate, you are greeted with beverage carts and that deliciousness I spoke of earlier.

To get out of the direct sunshine, we scoped out Twins gear and grub in the concourse.

My Twins jersey was the first Minnesota sport gear I bought when we moved here. I have nothing Vikings, promise.
