Hello friends. I’m Aly and I just moved to Saint Paul, Minnesota with my husband.  I love teaching, writing, drinking coffee, taking pretty photos, shopping for shoes, listening to my grandparents’ stories, learning anything new, practicing yoga, running on pretty trails, trying new recipes, watching the Packers, making our home feel homier, autumn, spring, birthdays, quiet moments, my beautiful family, and making up songs.

Silver City is a nickname of Saint Paul. I’m a bit foggy as to the derivation of said nickname. However, there is something about the notion of discovering the beauty and silver lining in people, places, and situations that has been a natural disposition and

I shoot all of my own photography {unless otherwise noted/credited to another photographer} with either my {Nikon D90 DSLR camera} or my {iPhone 5 camera}.

The idea for this writing project came from my extraordinarily supportive and handsome husband. Who, coincidentally, reads and loves my writing, and encourages me to write more.  This is our adventure in words, photos, and little rays of sunshine as we explore and embrace a new city.

  1. Welcome to the blogging world! I also started writing when we arrived somewhere new and it’s definitely thanks to my husband that I took the leap to start my blog! I started my blog a little over a year ago, and I continue to be amazed at how much I love it. The blogging community is very supportive and motivating, and it’s been a great experience so far. I hope you enjoy it too – I look forward to reading more, so I’ll make sure to follow your blog! 🙂

  2. Happy New Year, Aly! I just saw your blog post on Facebook and am so happy that I came across it! Your journey will definitely be inspiring to me as Dan and I just made a transition. Your words about finding the ‘silver lining’ are so true and I hope I can follow in your footsteps! I look forward to reading more of your blog posts! All the best to you and Ian!
